Comment on Driveway Brick Pavers: Reasons to Choose a Brick Paver Driveway Over a Concrete Driveway by Mike Lippett https://historicalbricks.com/driveway-brick-pavers-reasons-choose-brick-paver-driveway-concrete-driveway/#comment-196 Mon, 06 Feb 2017 10:27:58 +0000 https://historicalbricks.com/?p=2089#comment-196 I spent many years promoting and selling Clay Pavers around the UK. Quite apart from the obvious benefits of clay over concrete – colour, durability etc, aesthetically, clay is so superior. I have a clay paver drive and path around my house which is as good now as when it was laid nine years ago. Unlike most concrete drives which fade and look dull after a few years, all my pavers need is a clean once a year to remove the algae and they look as good as new.
Unfortunately, Builders Merchants promote concrete due to price, which is of course not the true price when laying costs are taken into account.

It’s interesting that you say they are actually very environmentally friendly because of their recycled material! Since we want to try and be greener, this might be a good option for us.

Comment on Brick Driveway Pavers: The Many Reasons to Consider Paver Drivewaysmany reasons to consider a paver driveway, by admin https://historicalbricks.com/brick-driveway-pavers-the-many-reasons-to-consider-paver-driveways/#comment-189 Mon, 24 Oct 2016 14:28:22 +0000 https://historicalbricks.com/?p=1507#comment-189 Thanks Bill. Yes, this is a very important point! We only recommend our antique street paving bricks (as opposed to bricks reclaimed from building walls) be used for paving in any climates with freeze/thaw conditions. These have been tested and exceed the BIA standards. Thank you!

I love the look of the brick backsplash you used in the “overgrown farmhouse” which I just finished watching AGAIN for the 3rd time! lol…. My main concern is cleanin the dang stuff!!! Would it need to be sealed? Would I have to use a brush on it if my mixer went crazy and threw cake mix which it or I have been known to do! I have a section I need to do on the other side of the room above my stovetop also, so what about the grease and bubbling sauces? I’m so torn! I’m down to my backsplash, hoodtop, and lighting in my kitchen and have hit with decorating ideas blockage, or more like I can’t make a decision…. WHAT IF IT’S THE WRONG ONE????? How do you do this everyday?

This should stay in the joint better.

Comment on Brick Driveway Pavers: The Many Reasons to Consider Paver Drivewaysmany reasons to consider a paver driveway, by David Wilson https://historicalbricks.com/brick-driveway-pavers-the-many-reasons-to-consider-paver-driveways/#comment-186 Sun, 18 Sep 2016 05:17:29 +0000 https://historicalbricks.com/?p=1507#comment-186 Pavers are good for improving permeability unless installers use polymeric sand which then makes the pavers impermable again. Installers site weeds and ants and moss as reasons they have to use polymeric sand. How can municipalities encourage permeable driveways to reduce stormwater runoff?
